Setelah lolos passing grade TKD, peserta akan Tes Kompetensi Bidang (TKB) yang direncanakan berupa tes tertulis atau psikologi lanjutan, praktek/perfomance test, serta wawancara oleh instansi. Sejauh ini, pemerintah terus memantapkan persiapan seleksi CPNS tahun 2014, yaitu akan menggunakan Computer Assisted Test (CAT). “Kita usahakan tahun ini, TKD 100% menggunakan CAT,” jelas Menteri PANRB Azwar Abubakar.
